BUYER GUIDES

Hoverboards are the recent talk of the town. Not just because they are relatively new and stylish but also because they are good for the environment, relatively cost efficient and of course, portable. Almost everyone wishes to own this e scooter because it makes your life so much easier. However, the thrill of riding a hands-free scooter gets diminished if you end up buying an uncomfortable hoverboard. This is one of the reasons why you are recommended to learn a few things before finalising your hoverboard purchase.

Safety First

When it comes to purchases like that of Hoverboards, it is crucial that the rider’s safety is given the first priority. There’ve been numerous instances of lethal crashes and fire hazards due to ill manufactured or poor quality hoverboards. Hence, it is vital to know every nook and corner of the Hoverboard you are contemplating.

Pricing

Pricing is one of the first criteria one considers whilst making a purchase. Hoverboards are the same. Their price range commences from about £150 and can go as high as £350. However, it is important to realize that an expensive hoverboard does not ensure optimum user experience. There are various other factors one must consider prior to making a purchase.

What Hoverboard size is appropriate?

Whenever you are considering a mode of transport, the size of wheels is pivotal. Most of the Hoverboards have a relatively small wheel size of 6.5” which makes it highly efficient. However, this wheel size is suitable only for smooth surfaces such as indoor flooring or smooth outdoor flat surfaces. This wheel size is not suited to rugged and uneven surfaces like the sand, grass, or any bumpy terrain.

This is because when travelling on bumpy surfaces when the wheel regains contact with the ground, it tends to jerk forwards and the rider is most likely to lose control of the board. This is especially true when one is riding at higher speeds.

There are other wheel sizes available, namely 8.5’ and 10”. The 8.5” wheels generally provide a slightly higher level of stability than the 6.5” wheels, all the while maintaining the sleek and compact form of the initial variant. However, if you are looking to go off-roading, the 8.5” variant is the best option for you.

Hoverboard Weight

When we talk about the weight aspect of a Hoverboard, there are two things we ought to consider – the weight of the product in itself and how much weight the hoverboard can endure.

Firstly, if the Hoverboard is too hefty, the customers may shy away from carrying it with them. Hence, it is vital for them to choose the hoverboard whose weight is compatible with the weight they can easily carry.

Secondly, most of the hoverboards have the maximum weight limit of 100 kgs. Further, one also needs to consider the minimum weight requirement for each Hoverboard model. For example- the minimum weight requirement for three of the models are given below:

  • 6.5” Hoverboards – 30 kg
  • 8.5” Off Road Hoverboards – 35 kg

Hoverboard Speed

Everyone wants to purchase a Hoverboard that is fast, swift, efficient and is safe at the same time. Hence, whilst making the purchase, they need to make sure that the Hoverboard fulfills their demand of fast speed. The Hoverboard speed is directly proportional to the wheel motors within the Hoverboard as well as the wheel size and weight of the product. Most of the Hoverboards have a standard speed of 6-12 mph.

Range

Range refers to the total distance a Hoverborad can cover with ease once fully charged. This is usually about 7-12 miles. It is a decent range for people who are looking for fun and frolic.

Charging and Battery

Typically, the hoverboards take about 2 – 2.5 hours to be fully charged. Hence, it is important to be prepared beforehand in case you have some plans for the day.

Whilst purchasing the hoverboard, you need to ascertain that the batteries are certified and tested.

Features of the Hoverboard

Hoverboards are the new face of transport for people. With a plethora of features to their name, they are designed and manufactured with a new state-of-balance technology which makes them easy to use.

Further, they no longer serve the sole function of travelling. With the addition of new features, they have now stepped up and have been set apart from the traditional and initial Segway.

Bluetooth: Nowadays bluetooth facilities can be found in almost all brands. It allows riders to have a phenomenal riding experience with their favorite music resonating in their ears.

LED Lights: LED Lights are another astonishing addition to the hoverboards’ design. The fixture of these lights makes them flash in different colours whilst the board is in motion.
